In the interminably long days before the February 21st NBA trade deadline, rumors involving the Clippers backup point guard, Eric Bledsoe, are once again surfacing. ESPN is reporting that the Jazz have approached the Clippers about a potential deal that would send forward Paul Millsap to the Clippers in exchange for Eric Bledsoe. Bledsoe is considered one of the most valuable players who may or may not be available if the right deal comes along due to his potential as a starter and current status as one of the best overall defenders in the NBA. Millsap is a versatile forward who can play three positions and could play alongside Blake Griffin or come off the bench as the Clippers look to make a deep playoff and championship run.

The Clippers released a statement on Saturday stating that they were not shopping Bledsoe (or DeAndre Jordan, who was also reportedly being shopped in a deal for Kevin Garnett) and that the team would make no moves before summer.

Any deal involving Millsap would require additional players to compensate for his large salary, meaning Caron Butler or Lamar Odom might need to be packaged along with Bledsoe to make the trade work.

The Clippers are very concerned with disrupting the team’s chemistry – especially important to Chris Paul – so any deal would presumably need Paul’s blessing to proceed.
