Throwing out Draft grades for the Clippers
As I pointed out in my introduction to the site, we have a lot to talk about since this site has been inactive for around five months. One of those things that we need to talk about is the 2011 NBA Draft, reviewing and grading the selections that the LA Clippers made in that draft. So, why wait? let’s review and grade the selections that the Clippers made in the 2011 NBA Draft right now. The Clippers did not have a first round pick since they traded it to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a package deal that included Baron Davis [...]
Clips vs Nets: Quick Hitters
So Im watching the 25-40 LA Clippers run the 12-52 New Jersey Nets, who are playing without their star, Deron Williams. The Clippers, man. We should call them Team Dream Deferred. Watching the Clip Show dismantle the defending Eastern Conference champs Celtics 108-105 in Boston, you have to wonder what might have been. What if Baron “Doughnut” Davis had actually cared and came into the season actually ready to play instead of missing 14 of the 1st 18 games just being out of shape? The Clips started off 3-15 in those 18 games. What if Chris Kaman, who’s scored in double [...]
Clips vs Celts Recap: DJ & Mo Show
Take note, NBA. Stock up on water and canned goods, the whole landscape of the NBA is ready for a seismic shift. The Lo Angeles Clippers gave a glimpse of things to come next year, building up a comfortable lead to as much as 23 point in the 3rd, then withstanding the prerequisite “pride charge” by the Boston Celtics late in the 4th to hold on for a rare 108-105 road win. From the jump, the Clips looked like a new team; they played with confidence, shot the ball well from deep, and defended like demons in the 1st [...]
Clippers vs Celtics: Quick Hitter
Fresh off of an uneven win over the Charlotte Bobcats (when Kwame “Hands Of Stone” Brown has given you 27 minutes, you’re in trouble, Jack), the L.A. Clippers roll into Boston’s TD Garden at 7:30 PM ST. Boston is leading the East at 46-15 and second to only the Spurs league wide while the Clippers, at 24-40, are trying to cobble together a few wins to end the seaon on an upswing (Eric Gordon needs the Wolverine-adamantium-bone treatment; his wrists aren’t the business). Here are the key points I’m watching tonight as the Celts and Clips square off: Blake vs The Big Ticket [...]
Clipper Nation: I Must Do Better
March 1st. That was the date of “Clippers Vs Kings”. Since then, star guard Eric Gordon returned, Fauxhawked it up for about half (nah, he was EXCEPTIONAL in the Clips 106-103 win over the Houston Rockets) , reinjured his wrist, and watched as rookie Eric Bledsoe went hand-fed, milk raised Blackforest H.A.M. on the Denver Nuggets, channeling his inner Isaiah Thomas AND David Robinson in the 4th quarter of the CLips victory over the Denver Nuggets (if you didn’t see this bogus foul call/awesome block, it was even MORE impressive in person). But to my loyal Fully Clip readers (all 4 [...]
Clippers vs Kings:
The Clippers got to trot out the reinforcements, Randy Foye continued to produce, and Blake Griffin was his beastly self. But new faces, same results; the LA Clippers faced a Sacramento Kings team bolstered by a frenetic crowd and came up short at ARCO Arena (soon to be Power Balance Pavilion), falling 105 – 99 to the Kings. Let’s take a quick look at the Clips, now 0-for-post-All-Star-Break: The Good- Blake Griffin is an absolute monster. 27 points, 12 boards, 4 dimes, AND he hit 9-12 from the free throw line Mo Williams debut looked like a success; 16 [...]
LA Clippers: Mood Swings
“It was all good just a week ago…” Jay-Z 7 days ago, Blake Griffin was basking in a haze of glory;coming off of a rare Clipper victory over Minnesota in the final game before the All Star Break, he’d scored a quick 14 points in the Rookies upset of the Sophomores on Friday, he’d almost shattered the world with the dunks he missed en route to winning the Dunk Contest over a loaded field, and he was set to embark on his maiden All Star Game, where he’d tally 8 points, 5, rebounds, and 5 assists in the West’s [...]
Clippers vs Lakers: Battle for L.A.
Last time the LA Clippers (21 -37) and LA Lakers (40-19) squared off in Staples Center seems like years ago; on January 16th, The Clippers were surging and the Lakers were scuffling along (hey, terms like “scuffling” are relative; only a team the caliber of the Lakers would have their fanbase panicking while they are currently 40-19), and the results spoke for themselves. The Clips got up big, then held on for a 99-92 victory. Oh how things have changed. Eric Gordon went down with a wrist injury a week later, and the Clips embarked on a nightmarish loss filled journey [...]
State Of The Union: Clipper Edition
We’ve ALL seen it- out on the town, Saturday night; trendy club, adult beverages flowing, music pumping, some bro losing his dinner in the restroom. When the night is young, you see the revelers at their best; relaxed, trying to catch that one woman’s eye from across the room, knocking back shots…until it comes- Last Call. The switch is flipped; men AND women go from party to hunt mode; your boy who was just making a joke about a rabbi and Jesse Jackson walking into a bar now has a mad shine in his eye and smells of flop sweat. [...]
Boom Dizzle Fizzle: Davis Out
When the Carmelo Anthony swap finally happened, I was relieved. When the Deron Williams mortar shell of a trade was lobbed onto us with no warning, I was as shocked as Deron was when HE found out from watching TV. But this? THIS is mind boggling; I wake up to find that the Clippers are shipping surly-vet-turned-ebullient-teacher Baron Davis out for Mo Williams and small forward Jamario Moon of the floundering Cleveland Cavaliers. On the surface, this might look like another hare-brained move by a front office well known for it’s history of questionable decisions. Baron Davis was playing some of [...]
