Clippers Surprise Boston Celtics With Last Second Win

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Baron Davis, Brian Skinner, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, Craig Smith, DeAndre Jordan, Eric Gordon, Lakers, Marcus Camby, Mike Dunleavy Sr., Stats, Suns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Before we start, here’s a crazy stat they threw out during the broadcast: throughout history the Celtics and the Lakers have so dominated the league, that there is only one decade in which neither team won a championship.  The league started in the 40’s, so we’re talking seven decades.  That’s insane.  If you wanna know what decade it was, the answer’s at the bottom.
It wasn’t always pretty, but sometimes winning ain’t pretty.  And often that’s the only way to beat a top team like Boston.  The Clippers struggled with Marcus Camby out, having to rely on DeAndre Jordan more than [...]

Fantasy Basketball Draft Analysis: Red Hot Six

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Al Thornton, Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Bobcats, Bucks, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, Eric Gordon, General NBA, Grizzlies, Hornets, Kings, Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Pistons, Raptors, Rasual Butler, Rockets, Sixers, Stats, Warriors, Wizards, fantasy bball | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Welcome to the penultimate part, aka part six of what will eventually be a seven part article.  This is the analysis of a fantasy bball draft, based on what I thought at the time of the draft.  However, it happened so long ago that it no longer is about who made the best choices, but rather whether I was right or wrong in thinking they made solid choices.  Anyway, as a reminder again, those players with a (K) next to their names are keepers, thus making them pretty much all good choices so they won’t be analyzed.

11 Things For Which A Los Angeles Clippers’ Fan Can Be Thankful

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Al Thornton, Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Bucks, Cavaliers, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, Craig Smith, Donald Sterling, Eric Gordon, Hawks, Heat, Kareem Rush, Magic, Mike Dunleavy Sr., Ricky Davis, Sebastian Telfair, Timberwolves | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

No sugar coating: we’ve had a sad start to the season due to injuries to two key players and disappointing loses.  However, while some view being a Clipper fan as a form of self-masochism (and not in that kinky fun way), really being a Clipper fan is all about hope.  About faith.  About believing things will get better.  We refuse to give up, and somehow we always believe that tomorrow will bring better days.  That if we gut it out, our day will come, and ohhh, then it will be all the sweeter (ie. see Red Sox; Winning World Series [...]

Fantastical 4: The Continuing Analysis Of A Fantasy Basketball Draft

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Bucks, Bulls, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, General NBA, Grizzlies, Kings, Lakers, Mavericks, Spurs, Suns, fantasy bball | COMMENTS: None Yet

We now continue with my examination of my fantasy basketball draft.  In case you missed ‘em, here are the earlier bits: Part I, Part II & Part III.  I seem to babbling more and more, so this time we’re down to an analysis of only one round.  Anyway, same rules/caveats as usual:
-Players with a “(K)” next to their name were Keepers so they pretty much won’t be discussed ‘cuz they’re usually darn good.
-These comments are based on how I felt at the time of our draft.  Meaning no one knew Brandon Jennings would score 55 points & be a general [...]

News From Around The League:
Pacman Jonesin’ pictures Brian Scalabrine as l’il orphan Annie.  Also, due to the “massive” controversy of their Top 25 TV Characters In History, it’s been expanded to the Top 100.  Here is part II and III.   It seems like every character from Arrested Development, The Wire & Seinfeld will be on the list.  Lastly, they’ve also got a nice report on the brouhaha that’s brewing about Jailboy ref Tim Donaghy’s proposed book.  Note: It turns out that it was a false report that Tim Donaghy is the illegitimate half-brother of Jack Donaghy from 30 Rock.

Clippers Zero For Two

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Al Thornton, Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, Craig Smith, DeAndre Jordan, Eric Gordon, Lakers, Marcus Camby, Mike Dunleavy Sr., Rasual Butler, Suns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Two games.  Two loses.  Two different showings.
Game #1 against the Lakers:
Even missing Pau Gasol, the defending champs looked pretty darn good.  Kobe drove fearlessly & hit outside shots.  Artest was non-stop on defense & didn’t force things on offense: he only took wide open kick out threes or posted up players.  Bynum was the force he’s been the last two years when healthy.  Odom filled up his stat sheet everywhere.  Honestly, no one on the Lakers looked bad.
In contrast, on the Clippers Baron Davis was awful, turning the ball over a ton & jacking up ill-advised shots.  Al Thornton kept [...]

NBA Team-By-Team Final Thoughts As Season Starts, Part I

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Al Thornton, Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Bobcats, Bulls, Cavaliers, Celtics, Chris Kaman, Clippers, Craig Smith, DeAndre Jordan, Hawks, Heat, Lakers, Marcus Camby, Mavericks, Nuggets, Pacers, Pistons, Rasual Butler, Rockets, Warriors | COMMENTS: 7 Comments

Atlanta – Their D wasn’t quite up to snuff in the pre-season.  Jamal Crawford needs to find his way.  And I’m not sure this team has the drive to take it to the next level.
Boston – ‘Sheed’s crazy to think they could win 72+ games.  No way Doc would be dumb enough to run his starters that hard.  He’s realized it’s a marathon & not a sprint, so I expect Doc to rest his old guys as much as possible.  Still not convinced that KG will be his old self rather than his elderly self.  With that and lingering tension [...]

My If-The-Playoffs-Were-Now Ranking

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Baron Davis, Blake Griffin, Bobcats, Bucks, Bulls, Cavaliers, Celtics, Clippers, DeAndre Jordan, Eric Gordon, General NBA, Grizzlies, Hawks, Heat, Hornets, Jazz, Kings, Knicks, Lakers, Magic, Mavericks, Mike Dunleavy Sr., Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Pistons, Rankings, Raptors, Rockets, Sixers, Spurs, Suns, Thunder, Timberwolves, Trailblazers, Warriors, Wizards | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Okay, some people just call ‘em Power Rankings or Team Rankings, but I ain’t some people.  I’m just one people.  Er, person.  Anyway, the reason I’ve phrased it as such is ‘cuz I definitely think some teams will take a bit to round in shape (like how the Spurs regularly gear up in the second half of the season), versus others will come out & steadily play the same throughout the season.  And of course there obviously will be injuries and trades throughout the season, so who knows how things will end up?  Thus this is just my view of [...]

Where LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh & Amare Stoudamire Will End Up

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Bulls, Cavaliers, Celtics, General NBA, Hawks, Heat, Jazz, Knicks, Magic, Mavericks, Raptors, Suns, Trailblazers, Warriors, Wizards | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Today ESPN.com did a series of articles on the big free-agent bonanza expected for next summer, asking their panel of 52 experts specifically where top players LeBron, Wade, Bosh, & Stoudamire each will end up.  The majority said LeBron & Wade will probably stay where they are, with NY & Chicago as their secondary possibilities.  Bosh however only got 3 voters who thought he’d stay in Toronto, with the largest chunk of voters thinking he’d go to either NY or Miami.  Lastly, Amare’s largest vote total was for NY (13 votes) followed by remaining in Phoenix (10).
Now everyone’s been talking [...]
