One Win Eight Losses, Now the Real Season Begins
After last night’s loss to the Spurs, the Clippers can finally get out of the first nine games from hell. The Clippers loss one winnable game against the Golden State Warriors in this stretch while also beating the tough Oklahoma City Thunder. Third quarter collapses are still around and Blake Griffin’s intensity seems to be slowly waning as the season drags on. Injuries are everywhere and the roster has become a complete mess at the moment. But this Friday, the Clippers have a chance at redemption when they face the Detroit Pistons and their other opponents of the next five [...]
The Great 3rd Quarter Collapse
Last night’s game at Utah was definitely a heartbreaker. The fact that the Clippers were up by 18 at one point in the first half along with the stellar play of Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman made the loss a lot more excruciating than it had to be. The only positive from last night’s game was Eric Gordon’s 22 point 4th quarter performance where he went into epic superstar mode and tied the game for the Clippers to send it to overtime. But that highlight was quickly negated with his injury later in the second overtime. But the main point [...]
10-27-10 Blazers 98 Vs. Clippers 88
This was a great game for the first 3 and a half quarters. Midway through the fourth quarter, Clippers had their trademark meltdown and let the Blazers go on a 15-0 run which sealed the game and forced the Clippers to lose their first game of the season and have Vinny Del Negro get a sub .500 record. But being the first game of a new season with new coaches, players, and system, I’m not worried. The Blazers have a system set in place with veterans and a team that has not had much change over the last several years [...]
Clippers Helping the Community
The other day, Clippers gave back to the community with a food drive, helping out the Salvation Army Center in South Los Angeles. These kind of things do not get the publicity and news coverage that they deserve most of the time by the media so I just want to help out by showing you guys a heart felt video. I love the comments said by some of the people and it goes back to what I have been saying for a very long time. The Los Angeles Lakers represents the Hollywood of the Los Angeles with all the glitz [...]
Blake Griffin, better than you.
Here is a great article from the guys at The Basketball Jones OK, so Blake Griffin is a more skilled Joakim Noah who plays like a more athletic Karl Malone with the defensive instincts of Hakeem Olajuwon. Basically, he’s one of the best offensive players ever combined with one of the best defensive players ever, plus a little rising star, just for good measure. Blake Griffin, apparently, will win every single MVP for the rest of his NBA career. Good to know. But that’s not it — Griffin also has a lot of other skills that may seem familiar: Makes [...]
Preseason Over – Now What?
So with last night’s loss against the Sacramento Kings in what was a good close game, the Clippers preseason can be officially called over. The team finished with a record of 1 win and 7 losses. So what does this mean? It means nothing, this is preseason, where it is not about the wins and losses but about player and team development. Blake Griffin looks as solid as ever. I know this has been said over and over and over again but dude is a beast. His dynamic presence combined with his hustle and athleticism always makes him heard on [...]
Rookie Development Watch
This post got started after a comment left in my last post and also because I don’t want this blog to be all about game recaps. I’m pretty sure I can do better than that. So as of right now, the Clippers currently have 3 rookies on guaranteed contracts in Blake Griffin, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Eric Bledsoe. Technically I still have to call Blake Griffin a rookie because he did not play a single game last season (darn you Craig Smith). And we also got two other rookies that are on the roster but can be cut any time in [...]
Tuesday 10-13-10 – Clippers 99 – Spurs 100 (Preseason)
My apologies for the delay here, I’ve been ill the last couple of days and is still getting used to this blogging business. Anyways, I caught this game last night on NBAtv. I loved the first half, and lost my excitement mid way through the 3rd quarter. Classic Clippers meltdown last night. We lead the whole first half but quickly lost the lead But remember, this is still preseason so it doesn’t matter. Rotations were sketchy and some players played too much or played too little. Game Notes It was really nice seeing Manu Ginobili drawing up the last play [...]
And we are back to losing in another blowout. Just gotta keep telling myself it’s preseason and doesn’t matter. And frankly, it doesn’t matter. Watching the highlights, Blake Griffin is looking more beastmode every time he steps on the court. The game notes Chris Kaman took the night off to rest I assume. So DeAndre Jordan got more burn here as center and did not do that great. 2 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers for DJ. A lot of people were expecting him to play better alongside Beast Griffin but he’s not shining that bright during preseason. He’s [...]
That’s more like it. That is how it should be. Tonight, the Kings got wiped off California by the Clippers in the Clippers’ second preseason game. After a horrible first night, the Clippers were able to bounce back and wreck their division rivals. The game was not televised and I was not able to find it on the radio through my alarm clock so I followed the boxscore and the game thread on Clipsnation. I was already having a good night so the Clippers winning was just icing on the cake. Notes Blake Griffin finished with 18 points, 13 rebounds, [...]
