USA Basketball has released the preliminary roster for the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Here is the full 19 players.
G DeMar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors)
F Chandler Parsons (Dallas Mavericks)
G Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards)
C DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento Kings)
G Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
F Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)
C Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons)
F Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder)
F Kenneth Faried (Denver Nuggets)
F Paul George (Indiana Pacers)
F Blake Griffin (Los Angeles Clippers)
G James Harden (Houston Rockets)
G/F Gordon Hayward (Utah Jazz)
G Kyrie Irving (Cleveland Cavaliers)

G Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
F Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves)
G Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)
G Klay Thompson (Golden State Warriors)
For Clippers forward Blake Griffin, this will be his first time participating with the USA National Basketball team barring injury. Named to the 2010 USA Men’s National Team, Griffin was forced to pull out as he continued to rehab from a patella injury that forced him to miss the entire 2009-10 NBA season. The same would occur prior in 2012 when Griffin was forced to withdraw from the 2012 USA Men’s Olympic team due to a medial meniscus tear in his left knee, with Anthony Davis replacing him on the roster.
The 19 listed players will practice together in Las Vegas from July 28th to August 1st when they hold the annual USA Basketball Showcase which takes at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. From there, the coaching staff, led by Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski will select 12 players to compete with in Spain for the 2014 FIBA World Cup.
Barring injury, here is what I expect the final roster to look like:
Guards: Irving, Curry, Lillard
Wings: Durant, George, Parsons, Harden
Bigs: Love, Griffin, Davis, Drummond
Team USA opens up the 2014 FIBA World Cup on August 30th vs. Finland.
