According to Adam Zagoria of SNY.tv, the Los Angeles Clippers worked out a group of draft prospects yesterday which included Glenn Robinson III of Michigan and Cleanthony Early of Wichita State.

As with the last group of players, these four give fans little direction in where the Clippers are headed with the 28th overall pick, but based on several draft projections, Robinson and Early could be two players available for selection at 28 due to the depth of the 2014 draft class. At 6’7, both Robinson and Early would be groomed as the small forward of the future. With Matt Barnes coming off a career year, neither would come in as starters, but they’d be key rotation players unless Jared Dudley finds himself out of the slump that led to the worst year of his career. While both are solid prospects in terms of offense, defense matters most here and based on scouting reports, neither are expected to come in and excel on that end.
The same applies to both Fair and Sampson, though these two aren’t expected to be drafted in the first round. If the Clippers are able to purchase or trade for a second-round pick, these two could become targets on draft night.
On Draft Express’ top 100 prospects board, Early is ranked the highest prospect of the court at 29th overall, with Robinson at 32nd, Fair 66th, and Sampson 77th.
At this moment, the Clippers have a lot of wing depth (Redick, Bullock, Crawford, Granger, Dudley, Barnes) which would suggest selecting a small forward is highly unlikely unless a move is made prior to or the night of the draft. As Ramona Shelburne of ESPN Los Angeles reported some time back, the Clippers are looking to move up in the draft and space could be cleared that way. When speaking in terms of value, Bullock and Redick rate highest amongst the group and with little indication that Doc Rivers is ready to move on from Redick, that puts Bullock as the most likely wing to be sought after by other teams.
The 2014 NBA Draft takes place on June 26th.
