NBA Draft 2014 — It’s been two weeks since our original mock draft recap. Prospects are busy working out for teams, sources are shedding the word on what teams are looking for, their preferred choices, etc. and draft experts are getting a better feel for what may go down on draft night. With that said, here is the latest collection of mock draft entries from around the interwebs that predict who they think the Los Angeles Clippers will select with the 28th overall pick.
MyNBADraft.com – Jordan Clarkson, G, Missouri
Basketball Insiders (Steve Kyler) – Kyle Anderson, F, UCLA
Draft Express (Jonathan Givony) – Jordan Clarkson, G, Missouri
Backup point guard Darren Collison possesses a player option on his contract this summer that would make him a free agent, and considering how well he’s played this season relative to his salary (1.9 million), it would be surprising to see him not opt out. With that said, the Clippers could look to address what could become a position of need soon. Clarkson is big enough to play both guard positions and can hopefully be a consistent enough shooter to space the floor adequately for the Clippers’ ball-dominant stars.
Dime Mag (Kris Habbas) – Spencer Dinwiddie, G, Colorado
A big combo guard that can run the offense playing next to Chris Paul helps take pressure off of the All-Star and gives the offense a more dynamic look. Dinwiddie spent the last year on the mend with injury, but was never an explosive athlete. Should come back strong.
ESPN.com Insider (Jeff Goodman) – Cleanthony Early, F, Wichita State
Analysis: No one boosted his stock more in a single game than Early did in the NCAA tournament against Kentucky. He is a versatile wing who can shoot it and also put it on the floor and get to the rim.
ESPN.com Insider (Chad Ford) – Jordan Clarkson, G, Missouri
Clarkson has been helping himself as much as any player in the draft with strong workouts. He has great size for his position and he he’s been shooting the ball much better. With Darren Collison hitting the free-agent market, Clarkson could be a nice replacement.
Yahoo! Sports (Marc J. Spears) – Mitch McGary, C, Michigan State
The Clippers would add size, rebounding and a physical presence behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan.
CBS Sports (Matt Moore) – Jarnell Stokes, F, Tennessee
Power, strength, and crazy athletic. Would become their best bench big immediately.
