Report: Alvin Gentry & Tyronn Lue to get second interview with Cavs

Los Angeles Clippers assistant coaches Alvin Gentry and Tyronn Lue will each get second interviews with the Cleveland Cavaliers according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Gentry and Lue aren’t the lone coaching candidates that have meetings planned with Dan Gilbert. According to Terry Pluto of the Plain Dealer, ex-Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins and ex-Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro also have meetings planned with the Cavaliers owner.

Gentry and Lue are currently on Doc River’s staff for the Clippers. If either one of them gets hired, the Clippers will be on the hunt to fill some pretty big roles on the bench. Lue coached the Clippers in the NBA Summer League in Vegas and at many times looked as if he was the associate head coach, not Gentry who has the title. We shall see what happens.

In my opinion Lue will be a great NBA head coach in the future as he is very hands-on with his players and has had an intricate part in the game plans for the Clippers historic season. Gentry, however, is done with the head coaching ranks as he’s too old to relate to the new and upcoming NBA players.

Doc is hopeful the two stay in Los Angeles, but know it’s a business and is ready for their departure.
