According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports Magic Johnson and his billionaire backers, the Guggenheim Partners are interested in buying the Los Angeles Clippers. “Magic’s absolutely interested,”. This group already owns the Los Angeles Dodgers. The NBA can’t force Donald Sterling to sell the team.
Magic sold his shares of the Lakers but is still considered a Laker lifer and would be hated by the Los Angeles Lakers faithful so I’d be very surprised if this actually went down. A lot has to happen for this to transpire as well. According to my own sources, someone that works with Clipper owner Donald Sterling is that we would never ever sell the team no matter what. A plan is already in place for his Son In-Law to take over once Donald passes away.
“This is 100 percent Magic’s plan,” a league official intimately involved in the buying and selling of franchises told Yahoo Sports. WoJo presents that Sterling could walk away with a $1 billion-plus sales price for his franchise. The Dodgers were purchased for a record setting $2.15 Billion.
“If the owners can’t force [Sterling] to sell, they need to be held accountable to change the bylaws so they can,” one member of the NBA’s Board of Governors told Yahoo Sports on Sunday. “A fine and suspension is meaningless, and that’ll be seen as a lack of acceptance that the league and owners are responsible for this ass—-.”
We shall see what happens. Go Clippers Go!
