Unless the league sees he didn’t deserve his 16th technical foul of the season, Blake Griffin could miss the season finale against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Here is footage of Griffin’s technical via CBS Sports’ Eye on Basketball:
According to league rules, once a player exceeds 15 total technical fouls on the season, they are hit with a one-game suspension. So far, only Demarcus Cousins has crossed that plateau, but Griffin could be joining him soon as both big-men will be forced to miss their respective team’s season finale.
Despite tying the franchise-high in wins with a victory over the Denver Nuggets tonight, nothing is sured up for the playoffs. If the Oklahoma City Thunder lose to the Detroit Pistons and the Clippers defeat a Portland Trail Blazers team that will surely be resting players, they’ll slide into the second seed in the Western Conference.
The difference between the second seed and the third seed is either facing a banged-up Golden State Warriors team in the 3-6 matchup or possibly facing a tougher opponent in the Dallas Mavericks or Memphis Grizzlies as those two teams fight it out in their final game of the season, hoping to avoid the San Antonio Spurs in the 1-8 matchup and face either the Clippers or Thunder in the 2-7 matchup.
