Add Darren Collison to the list of players that will be absent as the Los Angeles Clippers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. According to multiple media sources Darren Collison will miss tonight’s game due to a stomach virus.
With injuries to Jamal Crawford and J.J. Redick, Darren Collison was called on to help make up their absence. In that period was thrusted into the starting lineup where he has averaged 16.3 points on 49 percent shooting over the last seven games.
In his absence Willie Green will be inserted into the starting lineup. While his appearances have been spread apart, depending on who is healthy and who isn’t, Green has played some of his basketball of the season recently. In the last two games, Green has scored 25 points, shooting 6-of-10 from behind the arch. Between the dates of February 18th and March 10th, Green scored a combined 22 points on 4-of-10 shooting from three. While he’s not as talented as Collison, Crawford, or Redick, his play of late is enough to think that he’ll be a valuable asset alongside the starters as long as he continues to hit the three-ball.
With the Clippers on a back-to-back — they face Denver tomorrow — it’s unclear if Collison will make an appearance in tomorrow’s game. If not Green will remain the starter until Collison or Crawford get healthy.
