That Didn't Last Long: Lamar Odom Cut By Spanish Club

Like most of what Lamar Odom has attempted to do in the past few years, the forward’s stint in Europe didn’t last long.

Fortunately for Odom, his release didn’t stem from his poor play or bad behavior. Well, at least according to the information that is available on the incident. Though the 14-year NBA veteran only played 22 minutes with Laboral Kutxa Baskonia, a recently suffered back injury was expected to sideline him for at least a month according to ESPN. And in that time frame, Baskonia planned on letting Odom return to the United States for rehab.

The plan was for Odom to began the rejuvenation of his career in Spain. After failing to latch onto a NBA team this season after a summer filled with reality show-esque drama, Odom decided to go overseas like many free agents do. But, like a lot of things Odom has dealt with in the past, this episode was cut short quick.

No one knows what Odom will do next. You can count out any team picking him up for a playoff run due to his injury, but if he’s focused on returning to the league, possibly back to the Clippers where he was wanted this year, the NBA could be his home for the 2014-15 NBA season.
