Every once in a while the Clippers need Jamal Crawford to be the dominant scorer on offense. These needs have increased ten-fold as the Clippers are looking for consistency outside of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul, especially with J.J. Redick out and the small forward tandem of Matt Barnes – Jared Dudley struggling.
And, of course, Crawford stepped up to the plate on a huge stage to help carry the Clippers over the Oklahoma City Thunder scoring 36 points on 13-of-20 shooting.
Crawford is having a fantastic February. In just seven games of play, the shooting guard is averaging 25.3 points on 49 percent shooting, a scoring output this team has needed desperately as Paul has been subpar since his return and Redick has been setback with a hip injury. With Redick out, Crawford has been forced into the starting lineup, making last night his 21st start of the season.
With the Pelicans, Suns, Hawks, Lakers and Warriors being the next five teams on the schedule, the Clippers will need Crawford to continue his scoring brilliance to help remain a top-4 seed in the West.
