With the Chris Paul good news we bring you the bad news:
Byron and JJ Redick are inactive tonight
— Eric Patten (@EricPatten) February 10, 2014
J.J. Redick’s absence stems from a hip injury, a problem that arose around the fifth of February when Redick was forced to miss the game against the Miami Heat.
Redick has missed twenty-plus games this season, most coming from a wrist injury he suffered in 2013. In Redick’s place, Jamal Crawford will get the start, his seventeenth of the season. In his previous 16 starts, Crawford has averaged 19.4 points on 37 percent shooting, down from his season average of 41 percent.
In 47 minutes of play the Matt Barnes – Chris Paul – Jamal Crawford – DeAndre Jordan – Blake Griffin lineup has posted an offensive rating of 104.7 and a defensive rating of 96.3.
In regards to Byron Mullens, he’s likely the odd-man out in the rotation with Chris Paul returning to the starting lineup. After a shoddy start on the season, Mullens lost his place in the rotation to the likes of Hedo Turkoglu and Antawn Jamison. Since then his play has been sporadic, last making an appearance in a game on February 1st against the Utah Jazz where he played 1:10 minutes.
Mullens is averaging 2.5 points per game on 40 percent shooting.
