Here is some interesting news.
Before the Phoenix Suns took him off the market for the rest of the season the Los Angeles Clippers reportedly showed interested in then-free agent shooting guard Leandro Barbosa according to Real GM.
“Barbosa knows the Suns weren’t always interested in partnering again, and the Los Angeles Clippers and Chicago Bulls had long shown the most intrigue of all, but injury to Eric Bledsoe opened an old door and made the choice simple.” (Leandro Barbosa Overcame Doubts He’d Play Again Before Speedy ACL Comeback)
Due to the lack of date when this interest was shown, you have to suspect it happened some time between Chris Paul’s injury and January 28 when the Blur stuck on with Phoenix. Barring injury, Barbosa would have been the perfect fit as the backup point guard in Doc’s system especially considering it often resembles the Seven Seconds or Less offense that made Barbosa a household name in the United States.
A Barbosa signing would’ve likely meant that the Sasha Vujacic doesn’t happen, mainly due to a talent overlap.
After suffering an ACL injury, it’s nice to see Barbosa back on the court making an impact on a team in the middle of the playoff hunt. He’ll soften the blow that is Eric Bledsoe’s meniscus injury.
