Senol: Clippers Will Sign Hedo Turkoglu for Rest of Season

According to Turkish basketball writer Ismail Senol forward Hidayet Türkoğlu (Hedo Turkoglu) will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers for the remainder of the 2013/2014 season. This will all happen pending passing a physical said to be taking place in Los Angeles on Wednesday morning, he will not be available Wednesday night’s game.

Clipper Head Coach Doc Rivers had nothing but good things to say about Turkoglu’s work out on in Los Angeles last Thursday, others in the organization are said to have became fans of the 6 foot 10 inch forward quickly.

To sign Türkoğlu the Clippers must release a player, guards Darius Morris and Maalik Wayns 10 day contracts end Thursday. Clipper Nation would shocked if a player such as Willie Green $1.4m, Byron Mullens $947k,  Antwan Jamison 1.4m, Ryan Hollins $1.2m could be released, it’s very doubtful.

How Hedo Turkoglu stands:

  • Height: 6’10
  • Weight: 220
  • NBA Experience: 13yrs
  • NBA Stats: PPG – 11.9 RPG – 4.2 FG% – 42 3PG% – 38

Honestly I am truly shocked by this signing, the Clippers need a center not a stretch 4. Obviously the organization doesn’t trust Antwan Jamison’s inconsistent play nor Matt Barnes health issues, Reggie Bullock is only a Rookie and not ready for the treacherous we call the NBA Playoffs. This puts rest to the rumors of signing Andrew Bynum unless the Clippers decided to release Morris and Wayns…we shall see. I sure hope the fact Turkoglu was suspended 20 games by the NBA after testing positive for steroids in Orlando last season won’t affect his welcoming to Los Angeles.
