McMahon: Dirk A Game-Time Decision Vs. Clips

After tweaking his ankle against the Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks star forward Dirk Nowitzki will be a game-time decision for tonight’s Mavs-Clippers matchup.

For the Clippers this is good news. After last night’s rout over the Charlotte Bobcats, they’re headed to the southwest on a SEGABABA to take on a Dallas Mavericks team that is currently on a three-game winning streak. With no Dirk in the lineup that makes the task of defeating Dallas much easier as Nowitzki has averaged 20.9 points on 48 percent shooting. No one on this roster can replicate Dirk’s scoring output outside of Monta Ellis and definitely no big behind him can, leaving a gaping hole for the night.

Oh, and Blake Griffin wouldn’t mind not seeing Nowitzki. Per Basketball-Reference, Dirk (20.7 points) has outplayed Griffin (18.2 points) a bit since Griffin debuted in 2010, having played in 9 matchups and winning six. In the last meeting between the two top forwards, Dirk scored 33 points in a win versus Blake’s 14 points.
