Chris Paul (Hamstring) Officially Out For Kings Game

After several comments referring to Chris Paul’s availability in a positive manner for tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings prior to today, Doc Rivers has officially announced the point guard out:

Considering Paul was readily available in the fourth quarter against the New York Knicks, his absence tonight is something myself and others didn’t see coming.

But the show goes on, even without the best point guard in the NBA. Darren Collison will step into the starting point guard role tonight. After struggling in his first ten games of the season, the reserve forward has shown glimpses of the guy we saw in the preseason, hence the #PreseasonCollison hashtags I’ve thrown out as I watch him play. In his last five games, Collison averaged 7.0 points on 46 percent from the field along with 2.4 assists.

As for Paul, there’s no guarantee that tonight is the only game he misses out on due to the hamstring issue. Doc Rivers wasn’t sure he’d be prepared for the highly-anticipated matchup against the league-best Indiana Pacers.

We’ll see how this situation plays out Sunday.
