It’s good to see Lou Amundson back on an NBA roster after playing for the Clippers in the preseason. With only 14 players on the roster you have to worry why Lou didn’t stick around especially after the abysmal play from reserve bigs in Ryan Hollins and Byron Mullens. With the energy he brings on both sides of the ball he would be a key rotation player at this moment especially on the defensive end.
The Ryan Anderson injury (toe) is what opened the door for Amundson’s return to New Orleans after an 18-game stint last season where he averaged 2.4 points and 3.2 rebounds. He’ll likely be the fourth big in the Pelicans rotation behind Anthony Davis, Jason Smith and Greg Stiemsma.
The deal is likely for the veteran’s minimum which is $1.8 million for Lou according to Larry Coon’s CBAFaq. Whether the deal is guaranteed or non-guarnanteed has yet to be announced.
