He's Back: Matt Barnes Returns to Lineup After Missing 3 Games

With an extremely tough schedule ahead for the Clippers this is the best news the team could have received.

Since Matt Barnes was sat due to injury right before the Orlando Magic game that began a three-game road trip, the Clippers perimeter defenders, mainly Jared Dudley and Willie Green (Barnes’ injury replacement) have struggled mightily to keep defenders from getting to the middle of the floor.

Matt Barnes hasn’t lived up to the expectations that were created after his career year due to rust from not playing in the preseason, but his skill set makes him a pivotal player on this team. Outside of actual play, Barnes adds a level of toughness to this team that only Chris Paul provides. All championship teams, or contenders, have that ‘edge’ and that’s where Barnes comes in.

In the next few games the Clippers will face Kevin Durant, Paul Pierce, Luol Deng and Carmelo Anthony. While Dudley is good, Barnes is a better matchup for those wings.
