In what looks to be a precautionary moves, Doc Rivers reveals that shooting guard J.J. Redick will be out at least a week with a bruisd left guard after the Los Angeles Clippers held an open practice at USC.

The left quad injury was the reason Redick didn’t appear in the Clippers opening preseason game as they downed the Portland Trailblazers 89-81.
Redick hasn’t generally dealt with the injury bug since being drafted by the Orlando Magic in 2006, so this gives fans something to lean on. But looking at the type of player that Redick is and the strengths of his game, mostly coming off screens, then some may worry a bit. The goal for the Clippers is a championship, so if Redick isn’t healthy come opening night they’ll likely sit him and start Willie Green in his absence.
Rivers also noted that Matt Barnes is day-to-day as he’s dealing with a calf injury.
