The Los Angeles Clippers just got a little greener with the signing of free agent power forward JaMychal Green. Willie Green is the other Green on the roster, but there is no relation to the big fella. Green will join the Clippers in training camp, according to Mark Deeks of ShamSports.com.

Green will have heavy competition in camp with the likes of Brandon Davies and recently signed Louis Amundson. Amundson is the clear favorite due to his prior NBA experience, but you just never know what can happen in camp. Green has a nice big athletic body with some game in the post as well as an above average jump shot. Offensively speaking he’s the best of the three options in Davies & Amundson, but his lack of experience and lack of defensive skills might hurt him. He had a good showing in Vegas for the Clippers in the Summer League as well.
Green went undrafted in 2012 after four years at the University of Alabama and joined the San Antonio Spurs for training camp. He joined the club’s D-League affiliate Austin Toros. The 23 year old forward appeared in 40 games for Austin, including 25 starts, and averaged 12.3 PPG and 8.1 in 24.2 minutes per contest for the season.
Assistant Coach Tyronn Lue had great things to say about Green during the Las Vegas Summer League. “I like JaMychal Green a lot. He can shoot the ball, he’s athletic, gives effort, he knows what he’s doing defensively, he picks it up great, he talks, coming out of timeouts when we draw up plays he knows what he’s doing, so I like JaMychal a lot.”
