Clippers Sign Lou Amundson to Non-Guaranteed Deal

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, former Phoenix Suns forward Lou Amundson will receive a training camp invite by the Los Angeles Clippers.

This isn’t the first time the Clippers and Amundson have been connected this summer, with rumors that the team considering signing Lou to fill the then-void at power forward earlier this month.

Lou is what you’d call a NBA journeyman, having played for eight different teams over his seven year career with the most recent being an 18 game stint with New Orleans Pelicans. His numbers don’t jump off at the board, averaging 1.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 9.5 minutes per contest last season, but if he impresses Doc Rivers and the Clippers brass enough he’d provide a semi-decent defensive power forward behind Blake Griffin. He’ll likely be competing for a roster spot with undrafted rookie Brandon Davies who signed an non-guaranteed deal with the team after the Las Vegas Summer League.

Here’s a quick twitter analysis of what Amundson brings to the table from Twitter user “Jailed Flynt”.

Update:

Marc Stein is now reporting that the Los Angeles Clippers have signed Lou Amundson to non-guaranteed contract.
