According to ESPNLA Doc Rivers and Antwan Jamison met for dinner in Los Angeles about 2 weeks ago. Sources say the dinner went great but no contract was offered. We hadn’t heard anything more about Jamison but now reports are coming in that the Los Angeles Clippers are close to signing the veteran forward. Lamar Odom has been in the preferred option, but from the looks of it, is out of the running to return to the Clippers.

The Clippers can only offer Jamison the veterans minimum and adding Jamison would put the club over the tax line, even if it waives the non-guaranteed contract of Maalik Wayns or Brandon Davies. A minimum deal for Jamison would be $1,352,181 which is highest minimum salary for a player with 10-plus years of NBA experience according to the Collective Bargain Agreement.

Jamison averaged 9.4 points (a career low) on 46 percent shooting and 4.8 rebounds in 76 games as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
