Per Hoops Hype,
The Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers were the two teams that Lou Amundson visited this week and discussions went positively with both organizations, agent Mark Bartelstein told RealGM on Friday.
Amundson had met with a couple teams last week and sat down with two more within the past few days, and the 6-foot-9 forward is continuing dialogue with interested teams in hopes of landing a deal soon.
“They were good meetings,” Bartelstein said. “I wouldn’t quite use the word frontrunner right now, but there’s interest, and hopefully we can get something done soon.”
Between Amundson, Lamar Odom and Antawn Jamison, Lou is the better option for the team though it’s not clear if he will be the reserve power forward come opening night.
Lou is your typical NBA journeyman, having played for eight different NBA teams since making his debut in 2007. Spending time between the Minnesota Timberwolves, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans last season, Amundson averaged a mere 1.9 points and 2.7 rebounds.
Unlike Odom/Jamison, Amundson doesn’t need the ball to be an effective player and is a step up on the defensive end which is what the Clippers really need. As the report says, neither the Clippers or the team across the hall are considered as front runners, but if Odom refuses the veterans minimum and Jamison finds work elsewhere Lou may be dawning white and red.
If the Clippers do indeed sign Lou Amundson he’ll fit in perfectly as he has had an altercation Zach Randolph in the past.
