According to Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers will open their 2013-14 seasons against each other on October 29th.
Unlike the past, things will be a bit different as these two face off. While the Clippers are preparing themselves for a championship run after adding the likes of Doc Rivers, J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley to a team that already featured the best point guard in the NBA in Chris Paul and a top five power forward in Blake Griffin, the Lakers will be fighting for a playoff seed after Dwight Howard‘s leave to the Houston Rockets.
Despite that a Clippers-Lakers game has always provided entertainment including moments such as this:
It’s unclear whether Lakers star Kobe Bryant will be ready for the season opener as he’s still recovering from an achilles injury he suffered late last season against the Golden State Warriors. In a report by Arash Markazi of ESPN LA, Jim Buss noted that Kobe could be suiting up by pre-season after many predicted he’d miss majority of the season:
“Well, we’re in Vegas, and I would bet a lot of money that this guy comes back probably in preseason,” Buss said during the Lakers-Milwaukee Bucks game at the Las Vegas Summer League. “He’s real sharp in taking care of himself and he’s not going to rush anything just to get back and prove a point

Since moving to LA from San Diego, the Lakers have been the superior team winning the season series 22 times in 29 seasons, but the tide turned last year with the Clips winning the season series between the two clubs for the first time since the 1992-93 season.
