Of all the names that have been linked to the Clippers whether it’s via free agency or trade rumors, nabbing Landry would be their best acquisition. While he’s undersized for his position standing at 6’9, his game doesn’t show it. Last season as a key reserve player for the Golden State Warriors, Landry averaged 10.8 points 6.0 rebounds on 23 minutes per game behind David Lee.
With Lamar Odom an unrestricted free agent, the only power forward currently on the roster for Los Angles is Blake Griffin. And considering how Odom played last season (the past few seasons honestly), Landry will be a huge upgrade at the reserve spot.
Being an unrestricted free agent, the Clippers would be able to acquire Landry without dealing anyone out. Something similar to Martell Webster‘s recently signed deal with the Washington Wizards, 4 years, $22 million may be in the ball park for Landry unless he’s willing to work out a short term deal. At age 29, the full four years may be a serious option.
There’s a chance that Landry’s friendship with Paul could be reason enough to take a lesser amount so the Clippers can finish building a contender. The two played with each other during the 2010-11 season on the New Orleans
