The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler to the Phoenix Suns for small forward Jared Dudley. They will also be bringing J.J. Redick through a sign-and-trade with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Milwaukee Bucks will be receiving two future second round picks. One pick from the Los Angeles Clippers, and the other from the Phoenix Suns. Sounds like a sweet deal? I would take Redick over O.J. Mayo any day.
We’re all familiar with J.J. Redick, he’s one of the best three point shooters in the league. The best part about this deal is receiving Dudley. The 27 year old veteran has a lot to offer and is often underutilized.
Dudley has three years left on his deal that pays him roughly $4 million a year. He averaged 10.9 points last season with the Phoenix Suns on 46.8% shooting, including 39.1% from three-point range. He also started in 50 games last season.
However, over a seven year career, Jared Dudley has generally come off the bench. It’ll be interesting to see how Doc Rivers adjusts his lineup without Caron Butler as his starter. I think Rivers will bring the best out of both Dudley and Redick.
The Clippers will have a nice rotation between Jamal Crawford, J.J. Redick and Jared Dudley. Losing Bledsoe is tough for Clipper fans, but gaining three point specialists like Redick and Dudley is definitely a come up.
