According the Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski the Los Angeles Clippers are near a deal with the Boston Celtics to hire Doc Rivers as head coach. The Clippers would send a future first-round draft pick for the rights to hire coach Doc Rivers. The Clippers don’t want to part with their 25th pick in this years draft, but have no issues trading future picks.
Talks started to heat up again on Sunday when the Clippers called the Celtics. Rivers and the Clippers are working on a five-year, $35 million contract, but no agreement is in place as of now. The Clippers negotiated terms with Brian Shaw & Byron Scott over the weekend with no contracts being offered because Doc Rivers seems to be #1 on the list.
The Clippers and Celtics have been a constant in the rumor mill. We shall see if this really happens or is it all talk again and will the NBA approve the deal.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are rumored to have offered (2) 2nd round picks to Boston for Paul Pierce. Not sure if this is a trade or an insult, we shall see.
Here are tweets from LA media regarding the Celtics-Clippers trade:
I can’t see the NBA blocking a straight compensation deal for Rivers. We’ve seen that before. Drama would begin if they push for KG later.

KG and Pierce could follow Doc to Clippers later, but league will be watching closely and Clips were always prepared to only get Doc
