ESPN: Clips Close to Deal for Doc Rivers

ESPN reports the Boston Celtics are getting close to a deal that would send head coach Doc Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers. Here’s what Jackie MacMullan had to say:

After days of wrangling, negotiating and posturing, the Los Angeles Clippers, sources confirmed, are on the verge of landing the coach they wanted all along — Glenn “Doc” Rivers.

Sources confirmed on Sunday afternoon that the “final touches” of a three-year, $21 million contract were being put together, with a first-round pick as compensation for the Boston Celtics, who have agreed to release Rivers from the three years, $21 million he has remaining on his deal with the club.
