Quick Coaching Update: According to sources the Los Angeles Clippers are expected to ask the Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace for permission to talk with Head Coach Lionel Eugene Hollins after they lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals. No definitive timetable has been announced so we shall see when and if it happens. The Clippers are looking to fill their vacant Head Coaching seat as they decided not to retain Vinny Del Negro.

The Memphis Grizzlies decided not to offer Hollins a long term deal during the regular season for some odd reason. The last few seasons are looked upon as very successful so to say he won’t be re-signed is foolish at this moment but you just never know because the NBA is a business. Vinny Del Negro is available incase the Grizzlies don’t resign Hollins.

Lionel Hollins told Y! his preference is to stay as the Head Coach of the Memphis Grizzlies: “I hope things get worked out quickly. I love our team and the possibilities.”

Last week the Brooklyn Nets asked the Boston Celtics for permission to talk to Doc Rivers, that request was denied.

The Brooklyn Nets & Milwaukee Bucks are excepted to take the same action in asking for permission to speak to Hollins in the coming days. The Charlotte Bobcats soon to be the “Hornets” Head Coaching position has been filled by Steve Clifford.
