Vinny Del Negro to Meet Clippers Owners Soon

Here’s your daily “when is a coaching decision gonna be made for the Los Angeles Clippers” update.

Ken Berger over at CBS Sports reports that Vinny Del Negro will be meeting with owner Donald Sterling soon to discuss the coaching situation for the on-coming season:

Vinny Del Negro is expected to meet with Donald Sterling in the coming days to discuss his precarious future as the Clippers‘ coach, league sources told on Tuesday.

Coaching sources expect the Clippers to cut ties with Del Negro, and there is momentum from within the organization to make a change quickly. Two people familiar with the organization’s dynamics caution that Del Negro has formed a strong bond with Sterling, but it is believed there is too much momentum in favor of making a change for their relationship to save Del Negro’s job.

This is a point that’s been made over and over again: if Del Negro returns it creates a negative trickle down effect for this organization likely starting with Chris Paul leaving behind $30 million and signing somewhere else.

For now it’s just a matter of when the coaching decision is made.
