If the Clippers have learned anything this season, it’s that they can’t completely stop the Memphis Grizzlies, who are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. When they’re offense is working for them, they can get pretty dangerous. The last two games, the Clippers lost by an average of 16.5 points. That’s actually hard to overlook because the Grizzlies aren’t a great offensive team.
The one thing that should worry the Clippers is that defense isn’t really inconsistent. A guy like Mike Conley, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol are going to get their usual rebounds, blocks, and stay with you defensively. There’s a couple of things that the Clippers will have to do, but it’s not going to come with ease, of course, as almost nothing does in the postseason.
The Clippers will have to be on their offensive game. Blake Griffin has been decent, averaging 16.5 points per game, but that 1.5 that he’s missing from the regular season is going to be very important for the Clippers tonight. Two games ago, two guys named Chauncey Billups and Caron Butler were shut out from the field. There two guys are vital to the offense, so maybe they’ll get going a bit more.
