Well, here it is, Clipper fans, the second meeting between the two co-tenants of Staples Center. For us longtime Clippers followers, it’s nothing less than good vs. evil.
The purple and gold group of megastars, acquired, bought, and paid for in dubious trades (a-la NY Yankees style), against the long suffering franchise now looking to penetrate the echelon of self respect.
Though I’d like to look toward a deep playoff run and possible championship, I’d trade it all for a season sweep of the Lakers. Yes, you heard that right, I’d actually be satisfied with a 4-78 record if all four of those wins came at the expense of the Buss family’s franchise. UCLA fans do not root for USC – ever – and the reverse should be true. Likewise, Mets fans despise the Yankees and Jets fans will never celebrate Giants wins.
Tonight, Clipper Nation, root for the good guys. Send the Lakers two games under .500 with a murderous stretch ahead of them. DeAndre, dunk on Dwight Howard like no one before; Blake, reprise your sensational posterizing of Pau Gasol and put him on his rear. CP3, manage this game into a 20 point blowout.
It’s time to start our new win streak. Destroy the Lakers.
