Griffin is playing thru injured elbow

Clippers starting power forward Blake Griffin is playing through a burst bursa sac in his right elbow, Griffin said after Monday’s loss to Cleveland. It is unknown if the injury is new or something ongoing this season or even a occurrence in the offseason.

“Bursa sacs are small, fluid-filled pouches located between bones and tendons, and between the bones and muscles surrounding a joint, such as the elbow, knee, and hip. Each sac contains viscous synovial fluid, which serves to cushion and lubricate movements.” Reference.com/answers. There is a possibility Griffin’s elbow could or need to be drained in the near future.

Griffin said the problem happens nearly every year, though “never this bad.”

Griffins’s numbers are way down from a year ago. -4pts and – 3rebs per contest. It is possible the injury is worse than he thinks or the Clippers medical team is yet to be seen. More information will be available soon I assume.

Griffin is expected to play through the discomfort.
