Clippers Out of the Running For Ray Allen

After the Clippers resigned Chauncey Billups and signed Jamal Crawford, they then cancelled their meeting with Ray Allen.

Allen met Thursday with the Miami Heat in Florida, and will choose between his last team and the current NBA champions. Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade have been aggressively recruiting Allen in recent weeks, and both think he would fit the team perfectly. Hard to argue with there, as the Heat buried the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 5 with a barrage of 3 pointers.

The Celtics have offered Allen two years and $12 million, while the max the Heat can is three years and $9.5 million. According to a Boston Herald report, the Celtics may even be offering Allen a no-trade clause

Last week, James tweeted a photo of Allen wearing a Heat uniform. Wednesday, Wade sent out a tweet describing Thursday as a big day for the franchise. The Celtics have also made a couple moves that might make Allen lean towards the Heat; they made Avery Bradley the starter last year and recently cam to terms with Jason Terry on a deal as well.

Allen might not get the chance to start for the Heat(although he might), but he will probably be looking at more playing time with the Heat than the Celtics.

My edge here goes to the Heat, because of two words: Pat Riley. The man is an incredible salesman as we all saw from the Decision.
