Randy Foye led the Clippers in scoring for the second time in three games, Blake Griffin got DeMarcus Cousins in foul trouble(and clearly frustrated him based on his Cousins’ post-game comment), and Eric Bledsoe chipped in a healthy 13 points off the bench. When asked about the battle he and Cousins had Griffin responded,”No, no, it wasn’t me going at it. There was none of that. I don’t want to get that started.”
Cousins had an interesting response to that saying, “Of course he would say that. That is what Blake is going to say, because he in L.A., where actors belong. And he is an actor.”
“If they’re going to let it be physical it’s usually physical on both ends,” Cousins said. “You saw the game so I don’t really have to say much.”
Cousins also suggested that Griffin was faking on the fifth foul Cousins received. “I guess the wind from my hand hit him in the eye and I guess he got fouled by the wind, I’m not sure.”
“He’s babied,” Cousins said after the game. “He’s the poster child of the league. He sells tickets, but he’s babied. Bottom line. The refs, the league — period. He gets away with (everything). He taunts players. Nothing is done. He’s babied.”
Cousins was fined $25,000 today for his public criticism of the NBA’s referees. He also had an unproductive game, playing only 18 minutes and scoring only 8 points and 3 rebounds.
Griffin had a tough first three quarters, but drilled 3 straight jumpers to put the game away in the 4th and he kept Cousins in foul trouble all game. These two teams will have a rematch on the Clippers floor on Saturday; will Blake Griffin baby his way to another win?
