Randy Foye ties Franchise Record, Clippers Continue Longest Winning Streak in 20 years

The Clippers continued their longest winning streak in 2 decades, and more importantly they did it on the road and against a quality Western Conference Playoff opponent.

“That was important, what we did, five in a row at home. That’s home. We got the 6th man, we’re familiar with the rims.,“ Randy Foye said. “It was important to come in here, and we know they’re the champions and we knew we had to come out and be aggressive on both ends of the floor.”

The Mavericks are trying to get wins any way they can at this point, and the Clippers never even provided them an opportunity to do that.

“If we’da lost, they’d be right there on us, and I think this game kind of gave us a little bit of space. We separated a little bit ,” Foye said.

It was a dominating performance; the Clippers outscored the Mavericks in all 4 quarters of the game; repeat, the Clippers won every SINGLE QUARTER of this game, and a team is not likely to lose a game when they do that.

Randy Foye had a season-high 28 points(22 in the second half) on 8 3-pointers. That tied a franchise record.

“Randy was huge tonight… He just got into a rhythm. When they were making runs, he just hit a three, probably two of three times which kind of set them back,” Coach Vinny Del Negro said. “When we get that type of production from that position, obviously it changes the complexion of our team tremendously.”

Asked when he knew he was on tonight Foye replied, “I just was aggressive, that’s all I can say. Can I do my interview man?(to DeAndre Jordan) Just being aggressive that’s all”

Caron Butler also had a solid night against his former team scoring 13 point; Blake Griffin had an impressive 16 rebounds to go along with 15 points.

Dirk Nowitzki had a solid first quarter, but with no Jason Kidd (out with a groin) to feed him the ball, the Mavericks struggled offensively only scoring 17 points in the first. Dirk had a team-leading 19 points for the game, and only one other Maverick (Jason Terry, 15 points) scored more than 10 points.

All these factors added up to another big win for the Clippers, who have a game against the Lakers Wednesday night, which will be key in determining who wins the Pacific Division. They are tied in the season series with the Lakers 1 to 1, so this game will determine who owns the tie-breaker in case playoff seeding comes down to that. The Lakers currently lead the Clippers in the division by one and a half games.

“Excellent win tonight. But, hey, we know how big the game is Wednesday for us for the standings, and what we’re fighting for there. We got the tiebreaker with a few teams, and It’s 1-1 with LA, and we’re gonna have to be ready to go on Wednesday. “

Is 7 in a row possible for the Clips? The way they are playing right now, and the mess the Lakers have made the last few weeks might just make it doable.
