Playoffs? Maybe.

Realistically, I say this year is not the year for playoffs.

Everyone is saying the Clippers have a chance for playoffs if they can get to at least a .500 record.  The current 8th seed Portland Trailblazers are supposedly going to fall off without Brandon Roy and their whole roster is pretty decimated due to injuries.  But Nate McMillan is one of the greatest coaches out there and has proven time and time again that injuries are not going to stop the Trailblazers.  LaMarcus Aldridge has been an absolute beast thus far, playing without Roy.  Nicolas Batum and Wesley Matthews have also been playing decently in the absence of Roy and those 3 players are going to be keeping the Blazers playing above the .500 record for the rest of the season.

The Denver Nuggets are the other team that is supposed to fall off too soon due to the loss of Carmelo Anthony.  Right now, I cannot really see Carmelo being traded and it is looking more and more like he’s going to be playing the rest of the season with the Nuggets.  If that’s the case, than Nuggets are staying in the playoffs for sure.  They’ll still probably keep an over .500 record too.

So yes, the Clippers can climb up a huge hill to get to a .500 record.  But just because they accomplished that, does not mean they’ll make the playoffs.  There’s also 4 other teams ahead of them in the standings right now that are still playing decent.  I don’t like to sound like the bearer of bad news but I just don’t want Clipper Nations to have high expectations this season only for it to be broken.
