I should have warned my fellow readers that this week I was going to take a small trip to Big Bear with some friends and that Fullyclips would be on a little hiatus for a bit. The great basketball blog gods seemed to want to punish my inconsideration of the readers by having the Clippers beat the Heatles in an epic game that I cannot believe that I missed. But nonetheless I saw all the highlights and was glad that the Clippers was able to attain this grand victory against the those evil Miami Heat.
The two plays that my friends kept talking to me about when I came back though was the Baron Davis dunk because it was reminiscent of the Golden State Warriors days where Baron Davis was an unstoppable beast. This is a comeback year for Baron Davis because of how he changed his game into a pass first point guard. He can still score at will against smaller point guards but this Baron Davis has 3 partners to play with in Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan, and Eric Gordon. All 3 of those players will put the ball in the hoop, all Baron has to do is make the play. So I like this new energized Baron Davis and is glad to have him here with these 3 young players instead of old Elton Brand who lost a lot of steps because of injuries.
The next play during this game that was a hot topic was the Blake Griffin and Mario Chalmers alteration.
After a small back and forth that saw Baron Davis having to hold Blake Griffin back from eating little Mario Chalmers up, the next play saw Griffin dunking all over the Miami Heat. After the dunk, Griffin gave Chalmers one of those death stares that would’ve made any one piss their pants.
To me, this was the moment that solidify Blake Griffin’s place in the NBA world at the moment. As a rookie, he just showed pretty much 95% of the NBA that he is not just another young player. He is going to become a force in the league and that all the scrubs and weak players in the NBA cannot take him for granted because of his age and years of experience. He just put his stamp on the floor that he is a superstar and the only people worthy enough to challenge him are other superstars. So for all the Mario Chalmers in the world, they better start becoming Lebron James and Kobe Bryants before they mess with the Beast.
