Tonight’s game against the Atlanta Hawks was another loss that was decided in the 3rd quarter. After a fantastic first quarter and decent second quarter where none of the Hawks players were really heating up, Jamal Crawford, Josh Smith, and Joe Johnson decided to turn up the fire in the second half and seal the game. Mike Bibby also added a nice dagger three pointer at the end for good measure. Clippers gave up 37 points in the fourth quarter and were not able to score at all. Eric Gordon was cold all night and only scored 10 points. Blake Griffin had another monster night with 31 points and 15 rebounds but gaudy stats are not important if the rest of the team is not getting it together. Blake Griffin needs support and just because Eric Gordon is having a bad night does not mean the rest of the team cannot step it up and help. Baron Davis and Eric Bledsoe helps a bit but because they’re sharing minutes almost evenly, it’s really difficult for either one of them to catch momentum and go on a run. Eric Bledsoe had a nice burst in the second quarter but became non existent in the second half. Aminu needs to be more consistent and earn his playing time away from Ryan Gomes whose too hesitant to shoot the ball.
Overall, it was another loss by the second half. Denver Nuggets are next so hopefully this two day break can get the team together.
