Friday 10-8-10 - Clippers 87 - Warriors 127 (Preseason)

And we are back to losing in another blowout.  Just gotta keep telling myself it’s preseason and doesn’t matter.  And frankly, it doesn’t matter.  Watching the highlights, Blake Griffin is looking more beastmode every time he steps on the court.

The game notes

  • Chris Kaman took the night off to rest I assume.  So DeAndre Jordan got more burn here as center and did not do that great.  2 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 2 turnovers for DJ.  A lot of people were expecting him to play better alongside Beast Griffin but he’s not shining that bright during preseason.  He’s still only 21 and has a lot of room to develop.  People keep forgetting that it took Dwight Howard many seasons to finally become the best center in the NBA today.  I’m not expecting DJordan to become that great but I expect him to be a force down low soon.
  • Blake Griffin is still continuing his stellar play.  His stat line is 23 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, and 2 turnovers.  Beastmode.
  • Eric Gordon has 18 points but did not have a great shooting night, only hitting 5 out of 14 shots.  He’s not always going to have a great shooting night but I would rather Gordon take most of the shots than most of the other Clippers.
  • Aminu is the third leading scorer on the Clippers with 13 points.  He also grabbed 4 boards.  I think I underrated his abilities because I seriously thought he was going to be a long term project but he’s coming along pretty fine.
  • Brian Cook scored 9 points in 10 minutes with 75% field goal percentage.  I am starting to question his abilities now because everyone wrote him off as a horrible NBA player.  But he’s making shots pretty well.
  • Craig Smith had a +/- score of -32 so I think it is safe to say he did pretty bad defensively against the Dubs.
  • Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry is a dangerous backcourt offensively.  The 2 of them can score at will and will give problems to every team.
  • Jeremy Lin in 10 minutes scored 7 points, dished out 2 assists, and grabbed 3 rebounds, whiling taking 1 steal.  I had to say it because I’m Asian American and fully supports the JLin movement!

Also this morning, the Clippers have waived training camp invites, Jon Scheyer, Stephen Dennis, and Jake Voskuhl. I think this means that Jarron Collins has made the team or is pretty close.  He did not play last night so I’m not sure what the deal is with him.

Next preseason game is this Tuesday against the Spurs.  Game starts at 6:30 and it is going to be on NBATV.
