It appears that Mike Dunleavy Sr. is showing a very good ability to maneuver around the salary cap obstacles the Clippers faced going into this off-season.
Eric Pincus at Hoopsworld did a great job of explaining it and I don’t have the time to grab the link, but basically they were $6 mil or so shy from being able to offer any free agents a max contract this off-season.
It’s being reported that those obstacles may be going away, as the team is reportedly involved in a three-way trade that would send Sebastian Telfair and Al Thorton to Washington as part of the Cavs/Wizards deal.
More to come when (if) it happens, but if they can do this without giving up Blake or Outlaw, it will be a marked improvement by Dunleavy.
