Clippers Sink to New Low
Wow. That’s how I’d sum up the experience of being a Clippers’ fan this weekend, which they started out in pitiful fashion by losing to the Timberwolves Friday night and ended in equally pitiful fashion, surrendering 46 points in the first quarter on their way to a 114-89 beat-down at the hands of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Chris Kaman missed both of the weekend games with a sore ankle but the team did regain the services of Marcus Camby.
The Cavs hit an NBA-record tying 11 three-pointers in the first quarter, prompting Clips’ Head Coach Mike Dunleavy Sr. to react with a rather strange proposition for LeBron and his Cavs teammates, “I’ve got money that I’ll put them in the gym naked, nobody else on them, and they probably can’t make 11 out of 13 again from the same spot.”
So there you have it, Mike Dunleavy would pay money to see the Cavaliers conduct their next shootaround in the nude.
The Clippers play tomorrow night against the Bulls in hopes of salvaging some of their dignity from this road trip, on which they’re currently 1-5. The road trip mercifully will come to a conclusion Wednesday night against the Hawks.
