Shaq’s A Hack: Stole Reality TV Show From Steve Nash

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Cavaliers, General NBA, Lakers, Magic, Suns | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

The Arizona Republic reports today that when Shaq first joined the Suns, Steve Nash told him he was developing a reality tv show where Nash would compete against other professional athletes.  At the start of the next bball season Shaq tells the team that he’s signed to do a reality show which is Nash’s EXACT idea.  Nash was obviously upset, but being the cool cucumber he is, he hasn’t commented on it publicly.  That doesn’t mean he let Shaq walk all over him.  If you look at the credits of Shaq’s new show, you’ll see that he had to add [...]

How Correct Are NBA Box Scores? Not Very.

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: General NBA, Grizzlies, Hawks, Lakers, Nuggets, Rockets, Thunder | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Last month, the Grizzlies’ former head stat keeper revealed that he regularly fudged the stats.  He worked for the Griz during their first few years of existence (back when they was in Vancouver and the name made sense, versus now being the Memphis Grizzlies?).  This wasn’t an individual case where everyone went, well, it’s this new expansion team, who cares, they suck anyway.  No, no, this guy (who has that most wonderific of first names, Alex) was trained by stat guys from other established teams, and apparently this habit is/was even encouraged by the NBA itself.
Wait, before y’all go thinking [...]

Advance Film Review: Sundance Fave “Big Fan” – Directorial Debut of writer of “The Wrestler”

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: film, general sports | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

In order to get good advanced buzz, the publicity company behind “Big Fan,” a film about an obsessed sports fan, offered screeners to sports blogs.  I jumped on the opportunity since not only had I heard good word of mouth about the film, I also greatly enjoyed writer/director Robert Siegel’s previous writing credit, “The Wrestler.”  Okay, maybe “enjoy” is not the right word to describe my experience seeing “The Wrestler” since it’s basically about Mickey Rourke’s character just having the crap beaten out of him both emotionally and physically.  However, it was a darn powerful movie experience.  “Big Fan” packs [...]

SHELBURNE: Baron Davis ready to move on from ‘bad dream’

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Ramona Shelburne interviews Baron Davis for the LA Daily News and how he’s preparing for the upcoming season.  Some of it is already well-reported stuff, like how Boom Dizzle’s been working out non-stop since last season ended.  The two parts I found interesting (& didn’t know about), which are found in the excerpt below: 1. Baron’s also been working on his relationship with Dunleavy, and 2. Even though all we’ve heard is non-stop Blake Griffin praise from the organization, apparently the team still wants Baron to be the focal point (which I think is good).
He [Baron Davis] met regularly with [...]

Maybe as few as 11 jobs left for ‘09-’10 season

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Bobcats, Bucks, Bulls, Cavaliers, Celtics, Clippers, General NBA, Grizzlies, Hawks, Heat, Hornets, Jazz, Kings, Knicks, Lakers, Magic, Mavericks, Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Pistons, Raptors, Rockets, Sixers, Spurs, Suns, Thunder, Timberwolves, Trailblazers, Warriors, Wizards | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is for those who haven’t been checking Part I and Part II of my post on the remaining roster spots available (Note: I’ve been updating those posts constantly as soon as new signings occur).  With the sucky economy, many teams will likely keep the league mandated minimum of 13 players on their roster this year.  22 of the 30 teams in the league have already hit that mark.  Six of those teams have 14 players.  Five other teams have 15 players.  However, since some teams, like the Nuggets, Magic & Trailblazers, all need at least two players to hit [...]

Q Richardson Traded Again???

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers, Grizzlies, Heat, Knicks, Timberwolves | COMMENTS: None Yet

Now this is just silly. Minnesota, who now doesn’t have a single shooting guard, trade away their only one in Quentin Richardson. For those of you keeping count, yes, that is FOUR times in like two months. That’s gotta be a record. Particularly since he never even had a chance to play on any of those teams since it’s the off-season. I understand why Miami acquired him for Mark Blount. Well, first, Blount sucks. But they also have a bunch of big men. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Wade and Q work [...]

Clippers acquire Rasual Butler from Hornets

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers, Hornets | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Clips finally got a semi-decent backup swingman today, Rasual Butler, from the Hornets in exchange for a second round pick.  It was basically a salary dump for the Hornets, but with Rasual scheduled to make $3.9 million, it’s very reasonable for the Clips.  A few years ago Butler was starting to play well with Shaq & the Miami Heat before he disappeared into the hinterlands of New Orleans, but according to ESPN:
Butler had the most productive season of his seven-year career in 2008-09, averaging 11.2 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing in all 82 games for the Hornets, who [...]

Blake Griffin Loses Credit Card: A FullyClips Exclusive

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Last Wednesday night, Blake & Taylor Griffin went to eat at California Pizza Kitchen and were served by a friend of mine. To protect his identity I will refer to him by the completely unrelated name of Morin Oore, aka Dawg-O. He supplied me with these hard hitting facts. When ordering, older brother Taylor went first, choosing dumplings as an appetizer and a whole bbq chicken pizza with no cilantro for himself. When Morin turned to Blake and asked what he’d like, Blake said he’d have the same thing. Morin asked “Exactly the same?” and [...]

Upcoming Contest

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

Hey all, this cool keychain company is allowing me to hold a contest to give away their specialized keychain. I got one with the Clippers’ logo on it, and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed with it. Anyway, I’m not certain what kind of contest to run — should people just toss their names in a hat, should you have to answer some trivia question correctly, should it be whoever responds first when I post up the contest??? If you’ve got any ideas, feel free to either leave ‘em in the comment section below or to shoot [...]

Keep Checking the Top Free Agents Available

AUTHOR: Alex David, aka Short White Boy | IN: Clippers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

As each new signing comes in, I’m updating not only who’s still left, but how many remaining spots each team has. So keep checking both Part I and Part II throughout the off-season.
