The New York Times published a piece today on Patton Oswalt and “Big Fan.” Those loyal readers out there know that we here at FullyClips are on the journalistic forefront and already had a review of the flick a week ago. Now that FullyClips is in town, the NY Times is gonna have to work harder if it wants to be the one breaking the scoops. Anyway, one interesting bit is that in my review I wrote that Oswalt’s performance followed in the footsteps of Paul Giamatti & Philip Seymour Hoffman. Seems “Big Fan”‘s director, Robert Siegel, had the same thoughts:
Mr. Siegel, a former editor in chief of The Onion, had tried for years to get “Big Fan” made, daydreaming that the movie might star a loner-misfit specialist like Paul Giamatti or Philip Seymour Hoffman.
But after talking over the project last year with Mr. Oswalt (with whom he shares an agent), Mr. Siegel said, he felt he had found his man.
