Today ESPN.com did a series of articles on the big free-agent bonanza expected for next summer, asking their panel of 52 experts specifically where top players LeBron, Wade, Bosh, & Stoudamire each will end up. The majority said LeBron & Wade will probably stay where they are, with NY & Chicago as their secondary possibilities. Bosh however only got 3 voters who thought he’d stay in Toronto, with the largest chunk of voters thinking he’d go to either NY or Miami. Lastly, Amare’s largest vote total was for NY (13 votes) followed by remaining in Phoenix (10).
Now everyone’s been talking [...]

As a born & bred NYC boy and a huge fan of “Mad Men,” I enjoyed Kevin Arnovitz’s TrueHoop article on the recent episode that involved a company wanting to tear down the then-Penn Station for what at the time would be a “new” Madison Square Garden. He writes:
The original Pennsylvania Station was eventually demolished, and rail traffic was sent underground, beneath the arena we now know as MSG.
More than forty years after Madison Square Garden was opened above the new, dingy Penn Station, we regard it as basketball’s holiest site — a place whose mystique inspires basketball greats such [...]
The Los Angeles Times reported today that the Clippers reached an exclusive TV deal with Fox Sports Prime Ticket:
No one was happier with Thursday’s news than Ralph Lawler, the veteran Clippers broadcaster.
“I can’t tell you how pleased I am to have all of our games on one carrier,” he said. “I’ve been frustrated for years because it’s been so easy for Lakers fans. If it’s a road game they’re on Channel 9, home game, Fox [Sports West]. We haven’t had that advantage ever.”
While Clippers games are now lost to anyone who doesn’t receive cable television, as Lawler said, the upside [...]
ESPN has been running a series of articles where 50+ experts are surveyed about the upcoming season. Today they put out the results to two of those surveys: What teams are most likely to be in turmoil and What teams will have the biggest turnaround? These should be two completely different sets of teams, one going up, the other down. Yet one team is on both lists. Yup, yer good ol’ reliable Clippers. They came in 4th on the Turmoil list:
Blake Griffin comes into the NBA with all the right attributes. But he’s joining the Clippers, a franchise that historically [...]
I wrote recently about how a former “crooked” stat keeper named Alex confessed to some of the stat manipulation that goes on at home games. In an article on Deadspin he expanded on those comments. The biggest, saddest, most relevant part to this site is that all teams seem to boost their stats at home… except for one team that may have actually tried to make their players look worse:
Everyone cooked the books, and the tendency, by and large, was to overcount — with a few notable exceptions. “Why would you underrerport? The only reason is to make your players [...]
The New York Times published a piece today on Patton Oswalt and “Big Fan.” Those loyal readers out there know that we here at FullyClips are on the journalistic forefront and already had a review of the flick a week ago. Now that FullyClips is in town, the NY Times is gonna have to work harder if it wants to be the one breaking the scoops. Anyway, one interesting bit is that in my review I wrote that Oswalt’s performance followed in the footsteps of Paul Giamatti & Philip Seymour Hoffman. Seems “Big Fan”’s director, Robert Siegel, had the same [...]
Funny Lakers Movie Poster
Golden State Of Mind created this great photoshop:
In ESPN’s Summer Forecast: Rookie of the Year article, they surveyed 52 experts as to who will be the tops new kid on the block. 42 picked Griffin. No one else got more than 3 votes. Here’s what they had to say about Our Man Blake:
While the Clippers’ trade of Zach Randolph cleared the way for Griffin to step right in and get minutes, their new power forward has some history working against him: (1) only two of the past 10 No. 1 picks have won Rookie of the Year, and (2) no Clipper has ever won the award, despite [...]
We’re #2! …To some people.
TrueHoop had a fun article today asking it’s affiliated bloggers what their Second-Favorite Team is. Two people picked the Clips:
Kurt Helin, Forum Blue & Gold (Los Angeles Lakers blog)
The Clippers have one my favorite players in Baron Davis who, when his body isn’t betraying him or when he hasn’t mentally checked out, is just flat out fun to watch. Davis went to India this offseason, had some sort of epiphany (we can all hope that said enlightenment involves ignoring Mike Dunleavy when he tells Davis to slow it down), and he promises to try this season. Then there’s Blake Griffin, [...]
Clippers Waive Mark Madsen
The Clips waived Mark Madsen today. Steve Perrin of Clips Nation has a good analysis:
It’s worth repeating the value that Mark Madsen had on the roster. His $2.8M expiring contract was a nice trade chip for deals with teams looking to clear 2010 cap space. Now, I’ve been cognizant for awhile that the Clippers actually have more 2010 expriing deals than they could possibly use – Ricky, Camby, Smith, Collins and now Butler all fall into that category. So they don’t lose much by not having Madsen’s contract on that list. What the lose is a [...]
